Day 1

Welcome Aboard!  Travel in comfort aboard our deluxe motor coach as we begin our journey west to “The Centennial State,” Colorado.  Before checking into our hotel in Indianapolis, Indiana for the night, we are treated to a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.  (D)

Day 2

After a deluxe continental breakfast we depart for St. Louis, Missouri for a delicious lunch at Sweetie Pie’s, St. Louis’ Best Soul Food Restaurant.  Sweetie Pie’s is featured in a television reality show on Oprah Winfrey’s network OWN.  After lunch we depart for our overnight accommodations in Topeka, Kansas.  Tonight, dinner is on your own at a local restaurant.  (B, L)

Day 3

After a deluxe continental breakfast we depart for Abilene, Kansas.  Upon our arrival, we will visit the Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library & Museum.  To provide you with the best possible tour experience we will first view a 25-minute orientation film in the Visitors Center.  Next step inside the Boyhood Home and the Museum for a self-guided tour.  There you will find exhibits covering every phase of the life of the 34th President.  Also included is the Place of Meditation which is the final resting place of Dwight D. Eisenhower, 34th President of the United States, his wife Mamie, and their first born-son, Doud Dwight.  After our tour we depart for our hotel accommodations in Denver, Colorado for the night.  Tonight, we are treated to a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.  (B, D)

Day 4

Colorado Rockies – Moab – After a deluxe continental breakfast we meet our guide, and depart for Moab, Utah.  Enjoy the spectacular natural beauty of the “Real West” as we travel through Vail, Colorado, home of one of the most famous ski resorts in the world.  Next we descend from the heart of the Rockies into the Red Rock country of Western Colorado by way of Glenwood Springs with a stop in Grand Junction, Colorado for lunch on your own.  Following lunch we discover more amazing scenic wonders as we travel along Highway 128, a Scenic Byway which snakes along the Colorado River, on our way to Moab, Utah, the “Adventure Capitol of Utah”.

After checking into the Aarchway Inn for the next two nights, enjoy a late afternoon drive to one of the most scenic viewpoints in the west, Dead Horse Point State Park.  From the prominence of Dead Horse Point, 2,000 feet above the Colorado River, an ever changing landscape stretches out before you.  Immense vertical cliffs meet canyons carved out by 150 million years of erosion by ice, water and wind which have turned steep cliffs into a canvas of colors and created towering spires and bluffs in every direction.  Later we return to Moab for a delicious dinner and a good night’s sleep.  (B, D)

Day 5

Arches – Moab – After breakfast we meet our guide, and depart for Arches National Park for sightseeing.  Upon our arrival at the 18,000 square-foot visitor’s center, you will be introduced to the unique geologic forces that created the highest concentration of natural arches in the world with over 2,000 named arches within its 73,000-acre boundary.  Enjoy highlights of our park visit which will include:  Park Avenue – a mile walk through massive sandstone towers; The Windows – an area with 5 beautiful arches that offer panoramic views and great photo opportunities; Delicate Arch – one of Utah's most famous icons that you see images of it everywhere. You will have time to view, photograph, and walk around the arches before we return to Moab for some free time for lunch and shopping on your own.  Tonight, we join our fellow travelers for a unique and very exciting experience, a Jet Boat Ride on the mighty Colorado River through spectacular red rock canyons.  As the sun dips in the west, the canyon colors come to life while you learn about the river’s ecosystem, geology and history.  After a thrilling ride, enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner served on the banks of the Colorado River before returning to our hotel.  (B, D)

Day 6

Salt Lake City – After breakfast we meet our guide, and enjoy the scenery on our drive to Salt Lake City, Utah.  Traveling north through Castle Country, the climb from the Colorado Plateau to a branch of the Rocky Mountains known as the Wasatch Range and the Valley of the Great Salt Lake.  Upon our arrival, enjoy some free time and lunch on your own in beautiful downtown Salt Lake City.  Following lunch we continue to explore Salt Lake City with a guided tour.  Points of interest on our tour will include the Capitol, Historic Temple Square and This is the Place Monument.  After checking into our overnight accommodations in Salt Lake City, we depart for a unique dinner experience at the historic Lion House.  Built in 1856 by Brigham Young, the home derives its name from the stone statue of the reclining lion over the front entrance.  Enjoy home-style cooking in a historic setting!  (B, D)

Day 7

Mormon Tabernacle Choir – Bryce Canyon – After breakfast we meet our guide, and depart for an once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at Temple Square!  We spend a delightful morning with the Mormon Tabernacle Choir for their weekly broadcast performance.  Next we depart the Wasatch Mountains and head southward to Bryce Canyon National Park, one of the most amazing sights on earth.  You will view the erosion that has carved colorful Claron limestone into thousands of spires, fins, arches and mazes.  Collectively called “hoodoos,” these unique formations are whimsically arranged and tinted with colors too numerous and subtle to name.  After checking into our hotel accommodations in Bryce Canyon, Utah for the night, enjoy great western entertainment and dinner at Ebenezer’s Barn and Grill(B, D)

Day 8

Zion – Kanab – After breakfast we meet our guide, and depart for Zion National Park, Utah’s oldest national park.  Zion National Park is said to be one of the most beautiful places in America, a masterpiece of towering cliffs with deep red canyons, mesas and massive monoliths.  This afternoon we make our way to the Kanab area of Utah, also known as "Utah's Little Hollywood" because the location has served as a setting for more than 100 major films dating back to the 1930’s, and numerous TV western series.  Kanab has a "Little Hollywood Museum," and its own version of the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  We check into the Holiday Inn Express in Kanab, Utah for the next two nights.  Tonight, dinner is on your own at a local restaurant.  (B)

Day 9

Grand Canyon North Rim – After breakfast we meet our guide, and travel across the state line into Arizona before climbing the beautiful Kaibab Plateau.  Reaching elevations over 8,000 feet, the Kaibab was a favorite of Teddy Roosevelt and is home to a rich variety of wildlife including:  elk, deer, turkey and the unique white tailed Kaibab Squirrel.  We will enjoy a rest stop at Jacob Lake Inn, an old fashion family run lodge started in 1923.  Then, we enter the Grand Canyon National Park North Rim, for an afternoon of awe inspiring sightseeing.  The 1.2 million acre national park hosts spectacular scenic wonders and diverse wildlife.  You will learn about the geology and history of the canyon while taking in the breathtaking natural beauty.  The North Rim receives one tenth the number of visitors compared with the more developed South Rim, and thus it provides a much quieter and more natural Grand Canyon experience.  In the afternoon we return north stopping along the way at Jacob Lake Lodge for a rest stop, and a presentation on Navajo Arts & Crafts.  Before returning to our hotel, we are treated to a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.  (B, D)

Day 10

Lake Powell – Monument Valley – After breakfast we meet our guide, and depart for Page, Utah.  On our arrival we embark on a scenic boat cruise on Lake Powell to Antelope Canyon.  A combination of crystal waters, towering red rock cliffs and blue skies creates a unique and breathtaking scene.  Next we enter the Navajo Nation on our way to world-famous Monument Valley and historic Goulding’s Lodge & Trading Post.  After we enjoy lunch on your own at Goulding’s Lodge, we meet our Navajo guide, and board a 4-wheel drive vehicle for a scenic tour of Monument ValleyPoints of interest on our tour will include locations for scores of famous western films, television series and commercials.  As we travel through the valley and visit famous locations such as John Ford Point, Artist Point and The Totem Pole, you will also learn more of the Navajo traditions and way of life.  You will have time to explore and photograph these well-known western landmarks before we travel to beautiful Canyon De Chelly and our overnight accommodations in Chinle, Arizona.  Tonight, dinner is on your own at the restaurant located adjacent to the hotel.  (B)

Day 11

Albuquerque – Amarillo – After breakfast we meet our guide,  and make a stop at historic Hubble Trading Post, prior to leaving the Navajo Nation on our way to Albuquerque, New Mexico, the “Jewel of the Southwest”.  Upon our arrival, enjoy exploring the Old Town Plaza at your leisure.  Wander through the charming adobe buildings that surround the Plaza, view hidden courtyards, stroll under covered portals and shop at the many fine specialty stores and galleries.  Next we continue traveling across “The Land of Enchantment” onward to Texas where we will make a photo- stop at the world famous Cadillac Ranch.  Later, before checking into our hotel accommodations in Amarillo, Texas we will enjoy a hearty Texas size dinner at the Big Texas Restaurant(B, D)

Day 12

After a deluxe continental breakfast we depart for our overnight accommodations in Little Rock, Arkansas.  A dinner stop will be made en route to Little Rock.  (B, D)

Day 13

After a deluxe continental breakfast we depart for “The Volunteer State,” Tennessee.  Our first destination is Jackson, Tennessee for a delicious home-style buffet lunch at Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store Restaurant.  After lunch enjoy touring the Casey Jones Home & Railroad Museum and later explore and do some shopping at the Casey Jones Train Store and the Shoppes at Casey Jones Village.  Later we depart for our hotel accommodations in Knoxville, Tennessee for the night.  A dinner stop will be made en route to Knoxville.  (B, L)

Day 14

After a deluxe continental breakfast we depart for home having enjoyed the fellowship of friends old and new on our 2016 Canyonlands & National Parks tour, and taking with us many wonderful memories, pictures and souvenirs!  (B)
